Top notes are Lemon, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Green Orange and Basil; middle notes are Lavender, Nutmeg, Carnation, Jasmine, Lily, Rose and Cinnamon; base notes are Oakmoss, Vetiver, Cedar, Sandalwood, Musk and Patchouli. I get pretty good performance with about 5 sprays, lasts 6-8 hours with a little lingering on clothes after that. I wore it for years until they changed the formula and it wasn't the same, it had lost something (probably due to IFRA banning some of the ingredients used).

These days, I prefer Creed's Neroli Sauvage or (believe it or not) Ferrari's Red Power Ice has a similar classic Italian vibe. Definitely best for summer but could hold it's own in early autumn/fall, I also like this for daywear but has a bit of complexity for a summer evening if you vary the sprays. Modern production is still a mature scent, but without its key ingredients to balance it out, becomes very nondescript, which the original was already in danger of becoming by virtue of its formulaic design. This is a similar trick that the debut Versace masculine Versace L'Homme (1984) would also perform, but Armani Eau Pour Homme doesn't go in the same powdery "gentleman's night out" direction that the Versace scent takes, keeping it from being a link to later powdery oakmoss semi-oriental chypres like Guerlain Héritage (1992). Thankfully after testing the new version I don't detect any difference between this new version and the original.

This is essentially one of the scents trying to create a fresh escape route from the heavy-handed 80's just before the advent of Calone. I also am not disappointed by this 2013 reformulation and find it very similar to how I remember the original. I am surely going to obtain a couple of back up bottles, just in case it does get reformulated in the near future.

Armani pour Homme by Giorgio Armani is an “Eau de Toilette” for men with a smell of citrus notes for men. Honestly, this is the best Armani Fragrance, hands down, in my opinion, and one of the best all around summer go to's ever. Just as the Ralph Lauren scent completely synced with that brand's image, Armani Eau Pour Homme perfectly represents the pared down luxury that Armani is known for. This one starts of VERY citrusy, so much it could almost hurt your nose, while still pleasant if you don't over-inhale. Eau Sauvage (lemon and basil), Blenheim Bouquet (lemon and spices), Chanel pour Monsieur (citrus), Bogart signature (citrus and leather), and Versace L'Homme (citrus and leathery woods) are much more compelling alternatives.Beautiful, I own this vintage version, I love it deeply, a riot of freshness, but don't be fooled by the first sensations, its heart and above all the base is a masterpiece, I honestly don't know the current one but I can assure you that with this perfume you will be catapulted into an era where you were certainly not afraid to dare! My olfactory memory from the 1990's was that of a great gentleman's cologne and I was genuinely scared if this scent should be either a watered down image of it's former self or simply being too old-school and that my tastes may have changed over the years. INGREDIENTS: 738153 04 - INGREDIENTS: ALCOHOL • AQUA / WATER • PARFUM / FRAGRANCE • LIMONENE • LINALOOL • ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE • COUMARIN • CITRAL • BHT • BUTYL METHOXYDIBENZOYLMETHANE • ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE • HYDROXYCITRONELLAL • EUGENOL • GERANIOL • HEXYL CINNAMAL • BENZYL ALCOHOL • CITRONELLOL • BENZYL SALICYLATE • BENZYL BENZOATE • ISOEUGENOL • FARNESOL • CI 60730 / EXT. Well after a few sprays I get the beautiful citrus burst interwoven with neroli and some light spice and moss. As it develops, the heart notes of jasmine, nutmeg, and carnation add a touch of warmth and sensuality, creating a seductive aura that cannot go unnoticed.

If Armani creators boost it a little bit to make it in a higher concentration, it will be (easily) THE best male fragrance of all time ! When my mother comes she identifies this fragrance immediately, saying wow your room smells beautiful. It's more closer to what I remember the original to be though with less moss though the new one does seem to be brighter/fresher. The base of classic woods is at once familiar and yet unique here in the way it mingles with the other notes.I wore it at the time and it was fantastic for its outfit for an eau de toilette, very original with a lemon that stood out with its contemporaries. Something about the hints of spice give this fragrance a class/style type feel that it seems Armani pulls off without equal. What is perhaps more puzzling, is why this particular example of chypre has remained while other superior ones in the field have gone the way of the dinosaur, but perhaps that has more to do with the strength of the Armani name as a brand over many of its competitors.
