I loved Sin as a character. In the first book, he seems to be the dictator of the family, but as we get to know him in this book, you can really see how much he really cares about keeping his family safe and together. I really loved how even before Sin and Lottie got together, the rest of the team welcomed Lottie right into the family. We already know that the writing of Mrs. Vine’s close family is really beautiful (The McRaes), but this family was less conventional but no less loyal and dedicated to each other. I don’t usually like love stories, but this isn’t a mushy love story. There is action, and suspense mixed in with the romance. I got hooked on this series with the very first book. A Scottish Laird meets the daughter of a rich British businessman and the fireworks begin with Book 1. In Book 2, his protege, a British Lord falls for her best friend. This book is about the younger brother of the Scottish Laird, Gordain who just happens to fall for the British Lord’s sister. That same British Lord is Gordain’s best friend. You really need to start with Book 1, and it won’t be too confusing. I know this review is all over the place, but that's the way this book left me feeling... my emotions are all over the place. I'm so happy for Scar and Breeze, I love that she fit so perfectly with his family. But I'm so anxious about Burn and Cassie and I don't see how this little group of misfits is going to get a happy ever after for their family. To quote the Scottish poet Robert Burns in “To a Mouse:” “The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men/ Gang aft agley.” When translated in English, the phrase means that the best plans of mice and men can often go awry. Such was the lesson of Ella Fitzroy and Gordain McRae in Hero Marry the Scot #3 by Jolie Vines. ***Cue music: Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding out for a Hero.” ***

YES there is a cliffhanger and it ANNOYING one because I want to know what happened next now....please 🙏 Gordain's military career is in freefall after a night he doesn't remember. His burning need for his Anyhow the Dark Island Scots are definitely that.. A darker read, tormented and horrific things are done to these boys solely bc of being born or bc of greed! I loved the connection, loyalty and family these characters have made! I hated how some characters showed how horribly disgusting humans can be and treat one another just because they feel they're deserving of something even if its never theirs to claim! How the old saying "money is the root of all evil"! Well it definitely is in these books! It saddens me to know this is true in the real world as well!

My only disappointed was, I wish I would have held off until the other audiobooks were released to start this series. I will definitely be continuing this series and would recommend this book.

Gordain's military career is in freefall after a night he doesn't remember. His burning need for his best friend's younger sister is surely a knee-jerk reaction to his problems. He should walk away, yet he cannot say no to the lass. Excuse me.” The female half of the eavesdropping couple took a step closer to the counter. “Are there any more of those scones?”A book with a plus sized heroine and the huge, tormented, protective Scot who would die to save her? Yeah, I’m in. Add in a dose of the hottest smut I’ve ever read (whoops my biggest kink) and you’ve got Sin, the second book in the Dark Island Scots series.

I didn't get an inkling of that feeling with these two. Their romance was definitely a focal point, and I adored how neither of them could keep their hands off the other. The pull between them was magnetic. The sexy times were extremely hot, and none of the timing of them was unrealistic. Was I entertained? Not really. Did I like the story? Yes, more the premise. Would I read the other book in the series? No, I am not sure if I personally connect with the authors style and that’s more of a me thing. I may need to read another book to see. I can even forgive the tattoo.

I hated that they couldn't trust each other at first. I hated that Sin was so aggressive with Lottie. I hated that Lottie refused to tell Sin the truth. But I loved that no matter what Sin still wanted to take care of Lottie. I loved that Lottie wanted the best for Sin and his family.

Gourdain. For me, he is the highlight of this book. He is handsome (always a plus), a sexy Scottish Highlander (who doesn’t love a man in a kilt), ruggedly capable in most situations (he seems to save everyone), and he’s broken, the hallmark of a well-written hero (at least to me). Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love Ella’s character in this book. She has a wisdom and grit about her that it never really feels like you are reading a 17/18-year-old heroine. She easily matches Gourdain, who also has a worldliness about him. But it’s Gourdain’s struggle with himself that provides the true depth to this book. He can be frustrating at times because he makes choices counter to his heart, and it causes issues between him and Ella. However, he comes to the rescue when it’s needed and redeems himself within the story. He’s kind, broody, so sexy, and incredibly capable, even when he wraps himself in his head. If you love swoony, broken heroes, then you absolutely need to read Hero.

As Breeze and Camden search for answers the attraction between them grows, becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. When they explore their desires together, they are combustible! Breeze is searching for her missing sister, diving into the world their mother used to live in and following her sisters steps in hopes of finding her. All of that gets sidelined when a giant idiot comes barging in with his un-needed protectiveness. I didn’t see it in the display.” The woman scowled. “I specifically asked if you had any scones, and you said you were out.”
